The WCC has decided to postpone the announcement of the “Albert Einstein” and “José Vasconcelos” Award Winners who have been selected during this spring 2020 voting process until 2021. During the summer and autumn 2020, the WCC will accept nominations for the 2021 “Leonardo da Vinci” World Award of Arts. The results of the recently completed candidate evaluation will be disclosed in June 2021.
The World Cultural Council (WCC) and the University of Coimbra (UC) have decided to postpone this year’s WCC Award Ceremony (to be held in November 2020) due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and its potential impact on an international event of this standing.
The Ceremony at Coimbra, presenting the “Albert Einstein” and “José Vasconcelos” Awards, will instead take place in 2022, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the Pombaline Reforms, which opened the University to scientific and experimental teaching and the ideals of the Enlightenment.
