Host Country: Ottawa, Canada<\/h5>\nOttawa, Canada, November 1992. The World Cultural Council presented the 1992 Jos\u00e9 Vasconcelos World Award of Education<\/b> to Prof. Elliot W. Eisner<\/b>, Professor of Education and Art at Stanford University, USA. The Awarding Ceremony took place at the National Research Council of Canada which acted as host for 1992.\n\nThe World Cultural Council granted the award to Prof. Eisner in recognition to his 30 years of scholarly and professional work, particularly his contribution in the formulation of educational policy to better understand the potential of the arts in the educational development of the young. Prof. Eisner\u2019s published work includes fifteen books such as Educating Artistic Vision, The Educational Imagination, Cognition and Curriculum, and The Art of Educational Evaluation. His literary work which has been translated in Japanese, Chinese, Norwegian, Dutch, and Spanish has earned him worldwide recognition that has led to his role of lecturer and researcher in over 30 countries.\n\nThe Council also noted the leadership status of Prof. Eisner in his roles as President of The National Art Education Association in the United States, Vice President of the American Educational Research Association, and his current position of President of the International Society for Education Through Art.\n\nProf. Eisner was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1933. His contributions which have been recognized by teachers, researchers, and others Interested in arts education for the young have earned him the Palmer O. Johnson Memorial Award from the American Educational Research Association, a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, a Fulbright Fellowship, and an award for Distinguished Contributions to the Field of Curriculum from the American Educational Research Association.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
