He served as Rector of the University of Mexico, after which he was appointed Minister of Public Education (1920-1924), during this time, he initiated major reforms in the Mexican school system, especially expanding the rural school program.<\/p>\n<p>His philosophy, which he called \u201cAesthetic Monism\u201d, essentially an attempt to deal with the world as a cosmic unity, is set forth in Todolog\u00eda (1952). His five volume autobiography, <i>Ulises Criollo<\/i> (1935, \u201c<i>Ulysses Creole<\/i>\u201d), <i>La Tormenta<\/i> (1936, \u201c<i>The Storm<\/i>\u201d), <i>El Desastre<\/i> (1938, \u201c<i>The Disaster<\/i>\u201d), <i>El Proconsulado<\/i> (1939 \u201c<i>The Proconsulship<\/i>\u201d) <i>La Flama <\/i>(1959, \u201c<i>The Flame<\/i>\u201d), is one of the finest sociocultural studies of the 20th Century in M\u00e9xico.<\/p>\n<p>Among his other principal works are: <i>La Raza C\u00f3smica<\/i> (1925, \u201c<i>The Cosmic Race<\/i>\u201d) and <i>Bolivarismo y Monro\u00edsmo<\/i> (1934, \u201c<i>Bolivarism and Monroism<\/i>\u201d).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50
