The Interdisciplinary Committee of the World Cultural Council selected Prof. Raymond U . Lemieux Professor Emeritus of the University of Alberta, as the winner of the “Albert Einstein” World Award of Science for his contributions for more than 40 years of research into the chemistry of carbohydrates. His work has been the key factor in converting this area of research from and academic specialisation to one of great practical significance in important fields as blood typing and medical chemistry.

Professor of Education and Art at Stanford University, Prof. Elliot Eisner was the recipient of the “José Vasconcelos” World Award of Education in particular for his contribution in the formulation of educational policy to understand better the potential of the arts in the educational development of the young. The Award Ceremony was celebrated at the Lester B. Pearson Building in Ottawa, Canada with the host of the National Research Council of Canada.
