Her Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn representing the World Cultural Council recognised Prof. Jean-Marie Ghuysen with the “Albert Einstein” World Award of Science during the Award Ceremony of the World Cultural Council in Bangkok, Thailand for his valuable and pioneering contributions in the field of antibacterial chemotherapy.

His research has been decisive in opening avenues of scientific exploration both in Liege and internationally and his capital discovery: the structure of the bacterial cell wall.
