The Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts
may be conferred upon a renowned artist, sculptor, writer, poet, cinematographer, photographer, architect, musician or other performing artist, whose work constitutes a significant contribution to the artistic legacy of the world.

Liège, Belgium, The Hungarian artist Marcell Jankovics has been selected as the winner of the 2009 "Leonardo Da Vinci" World Award of Arts.

This recognition is for Jankovics’ creative and innovative contributions to contemporary, visual arts as an extraordinary animator and film-maker, highly respected by the international animation community, and furthermore as a noteworthy author,
illustrator and designer.

The World Cultural Council presented the 2007 "Leonardo da Vinci" World Award of Arts to Prof. Anne Moeglin-Delcroix Professor of philosophy of art at the University of Paris 1, she is also Director of a research unit on contemporary philosophy and philosophy of art.

The Award Ceremony took place in Helsinki, Finland, the host being The University of Helsinki and the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters at the National Archives of Finland.

The World Cultural Council presented the 2001 "Leonardo da Vinci" World Award of Arts to Edna Hibel, who has often been referred to as the USA’s most versatile artist, as well as its best colorist. The Award Ceremony took place at Utrecht, The Netherlands, hosted by Utrecht University.

Trondheim, Norway. The "Leonardo da Vinci" World Award of Arts was granted to Magdalena Abakanowicz painter, sculptor and textile artist whose creativity is directed towards human being. She was selected as the recipient of the Award in recognition of her creative and innovative work in the field of contemporary art. She has installed over hundred one-person exhibitions in museums and galleries of Europe, America, Australia.

Independent painter, graphic artist and photographer whose theme is a combination of art and life was selected as the recipient of the "Leonardo da Vinci" World Award of Arts in recognition of his more than 45 years of fruitful artistic trajectory. He has produced original and pioneering contemporary art works since 1950, playing a leading and influential role in the art world.

The World Cultural Council presented by first time the "Leonardo da Vinci" World Award of Arts. It is granted on its first edition to the Acropolis Preservation Group, recognising a concerted effort that began 25 years ago by the Greek government to conserve the monuments on the Acropolis in Athens, Greece, after they were found to be beset by fractures and breaks and changes in the surface of the marble.
