Signing of Winner´s Book
by Lillyan Hernandez
Secretary General, World Cultural Council
A good evening to all of you.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those scientists, educators and artists who have accompanied us as Members of the World Cultural Council for over two decades, and in that context I would like to acknowledge the presence of Prof. Jean-Pierre Swings, of the University of Liège, Belgium, along with that of Dr. Ramón de la Peña, both members of the Council’s Interdisciplinary Committee. I would also like to thank the universities and academic institutions who have sponsored the presentation of the World Awards.
My gratitude to the Instituto Politécnico Nacional and all the authorities of the institute for sponsoring this memorable event and for a relationship which today culminates a stage, and which we hope to see grow and further thrive in the future.
My deepest admiration and respect to those who have grasped the goals of an international organization as our own, which promotes positive relations among nations and individuals, striving for the development of a sociable and cooperative mentality.
Books remind us of our history, they refresh our memory, to show us our achievements and sometimes our mistakes. They enable us to appraise the unlimited abilities of the human being to create, to dream and make his self-stated goals come true.
I am extremely honored to present you the Winners’ Book, which has traveled over the five continents, offering on each page of its memoirs, the seal of eminent men and women who have spent years of their lives working towards the enhancement of a better world.
Eleven years ago, in 1995, this Book was last in this same hall, and today, on such a significant occasion, we renew our commitment to acknowledge and award the positive use of the knowledge of individuals and institutions, whose sincere efforts have brought our current civilization one step forward.
I would now like to invite Prof. Ahmed Zewail to come up onto the stage to sign the Winners’ Book, with Dr. José Enrique Villa Rivera, Director of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional and Dr. José Rafael Estrada Valero, President of the World Cultural Council as witnesses of honor.
Likewise I will kindly ask Professor Marlene Scardamalia to come onto the stage to sign the Winners’ Book, again witnessed by Dr. José Enrique Villa Rivera, and Dr. José Rafael Estrada Valero.
